Not all payment systems are alike

Make sure to research a company you are thinking about trusting with your personal information. Your personal and private information is one of our top priorities.

Do you like to make online payments? Easy, sure, but is the website you are visiting secure?

A few ways to find out

Before you type your card information into a website, ensure that the site is secure. Look out for a small padlock symbol in the address bar (or elsewhere in your browser window) and a web address beginning with https:// (the s stands for 'secure').

A secure payment page means that the webpage where credit card numbers are entered is secured via Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) 128 bit encryption. In a nutshell – your customers need to be able to see that your website is protecting their sensitive details!

Ask about whether or not an online payment system is pci compliant.

The Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) applies to companies of any size that accept credit card payments. If your company intends to accept card payment, and store, process and transmit cardholder data, you need to host your data securely with a PCI compliant hosting provider.

This means the company website you are visiting cares about your personal information. Also keep your eyes open for other icons that are provided to show protection such as a Trustwave logo or other payment system security protocols that are in place and that they are PCI compliant.
